Casa de Esperanza has several volunteer opportunities; however, the most popular is assisting with the direct care of the children in placement. This role includes feeding and rocking infants, playing with and reading to toddlers and young children, and helping with routine household tasks. Those that choose to work in the houses commit to volunteering for three hours, one day a week on the same day and time each week. Because of the instability of past family situations of many of these children, we ask that you will be willing to make a six-month commitment to volunteer in a house. In this way, we can provide the children with a stable and consistent home environment.

We also welcome people to volunteer in other capacities, such as yard work, car washing, sorting donations, delivering meals to the neighborhood or doing a 'Basic Needs Drive’. One-time projects such as these do not require the full application process.

To volunteer with the children, volunteers must have the following qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to make a 6-month commitment to work 3 hours per week on a scheduled basis
  • Good general health
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others
  • Flexibility
  • Patience
Application Process:
  • Completed application
  • Five references
  • Current TB screening
  • Volunteer orientation and training

A criminal history and background check of each potential volunteer will be completed prior to a volunteer placement.
