ORGANIZATION: Grundy County Health Department

  • 6 people are interested

The Grundy County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) consists of citizen volunteers who are willing to assist their community during public health emergencies, such as influenza epidemics, natural disasters or acts of terrorism. Volunteers may also participate in health education and awareness, local health campaigns, special events and immunization clinics.

Currently we are looking for volunteers to join the Grundy County MRC alongside the Grundy County Health Department Volunteer Program.

Volunteers interested in Surge Capacity Preparedness & Response will train to respond in the event of an emergency. Volunteers will also learn valuable information and preparedness tools to assist the Health Department and MRC outreach and educate the Community. Surge Capacity Volunteers will be activated when medical emergency response resources have been exhausted and are in need of more assistance to augment the already emergency response personnel put in place. For this position we primarily need medical volunteers such as RN’s, Doctors, Chiropractors, Surgeons, and other health professionals/specialists. We will also need some non-medical volunteers for clerical and data entry during the response.

The Grundy County MRC provides a core group of trained volunteers who can be called upon to assist with ongoing activities when there is a need for additional support. The functions of the Medical Reserve Corps Unit help strengthen and increase the capacity of our response system to effectively respond to community health concerns related to emergency situations.

At a minimum volunteers will be expected to participate an hour each month as their schedules allow. We offer both morning and evening trainings/meetings.

Experience Required: if you are applying as a medical professional we will need to verify your credentials prior to your activation during an emergency.

If you are non-medical and are looking to help with clerical/data we do not require any prior experience or education. We will assist you with training.
