Are you ready to take action in the event of an emergency? The Comal County Department of Public Health is looking for individuals for various Pod Exercises that take half a day during 2016 year and who have an array of skills and backgrounds that are vital in a health emergency situation such as a disease pandemic or the release of a toxic agent. Medical backgrounds are not necessary to volunteer.

Volunteers will assist at PODS, or Points of Dispensing, to distribute medication in the event of a public health emergency. Volunteer duties include setting up equipment, traffic control, documentation, screening, dispensing medication, organization, and providing information and education. Depending on the scope of the crisis, several POD sites can be established in Comal County during an emergency. Volunteers will be asked to attend at least one orientation and one exercise each year and will receive regular updates and opportiunities to learn from experts in the field.
