Interested in volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County? Get moving and join us on June 14th, 2014 at Bellevue State Park for Habitat In Motion, our fundraiser that features a 5K walk/run and 25/50 mile bike rides!
Volunteers will help to manage parking and registration for participants, man rest and water stops, marshal along the route, pass out food and drinks, supervise family fun activities, help with clean up and enjoy the event! At the end of the event, we have a celebration at Bellevue State Park with free pizza, water ice and beer for all participants and volunteers. Proceeds from this event go to building affordable homes for low-income families in New Castle County. To build affordable housing at no-profit through a combination of volunteer labor, 'sweat-equity' and no-interest mortgages. We act in partnership with the community as a diverse group, including individuals, partner families, faith groups, civic organizations, local schools and businesses. We reach out from Christian roots across denominational, faith, economic and racial lines to bring together people who are concerned for their neighbors. We strive to develop and empower individuals and communities through the construction of simple, decent homes.
Description
Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County is a volunteer-driven organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with families in need. By working side-by-side with the family who will live in the house, our volunteers experience the joy of helping a family to realize their dream of homeownership.
Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County offers both volunteer construction opportunities as well as non-construction opportunities: such as providing lunches for construction volunteers, working in the ReStore, or serving on a committee.
