Volunteer with the Garden Grove Regional Library Homework Help Tutoring Program! Adults and students interested in making a difference in their community are invited to volunteer their time to tutor children and help them with homework assignments. The Garden Grove Regional Library is seeking volunteers who can commit to a one- or two-hour weekly shift for several months between the monhts of September through May. Homework Help sessions are not scheduled during school holidays. This is a great opportunity for adults. Individual high school students or high school club members seeking community service hours and college students interested in volunteering or interning may also apply. Homework Help sessions are conducted in the library’s children’s section under the direct supervision of library staff. Volunteer duties may include one or more of the following activities: Listen to children read Help children with math, spelling and reading assignments Assist children with research for class projects Minimum age to volunteer: 14 years of age or entering the 9th grade Skills or Qualifications Needed: High school students must provide proof of a 3.0 GPA Desire to help children succeed academically Time commitment: Schedule a one- or two-hour weekly shifts for several months between the months of September through May. (Additional weekly shifts may be scheduled.) Volunteer shifts may be scheduled between 4 - 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Volunteer shifts must be scheduled on the same day throughout the month; however, the day may be changed on a monthly basis, if needed.
