Working with the "e" inc. Board means joining an energetic and dynamic team that is excited by "e" inc.’s mission and committed to achieving success. We have a dual focus -- maintaining the quality and outcomes of our current in-depth community residencies that now reach 6500 students yearly, while also focusing on the creation of a new: Enviro-Science Discovery and Action Center in the Charlestown Navy Yard. A place that will have exhibits, action tasks, lots of fun, and deep connection!
To serve on the "e" inc. board you are a sophisticated/active community-minded member who has had some prior board service and who shares our team's concerns about the challenges to our environment and the importance of creating science literate children and youth who care about and will act for the planet.
We seek members with strong networks they can bring to bear to help "e" inc. achieve the fundraising goals it has set so it can launch and sustain its current programs and the new center.
We are interested in individuals with skills in the following areas: fundraising, networking, business, strategic planning, environment sciences, marketing. We appreciate team players who are able to get excited over the creation of a new cultural institution that, in turn, will educate and engage children, teens, and families in the Metro area.
Please note that fundraising skills can include any of the following: social networking abilities, prior knowledge of crowd sourcing campaigns, interest in events or in grant writing, skills in creating corporate sponsorships, and even phonebanking, calling friends for support, etc.
We look forward to hearing from you!

Mission Statement
"e" inc.’s mission is to ensure that every young person in the Commonwealth becomes a confident, science-skilled, conservation citizen who uses science to understand and also protect the planet. We accomplish this through programs that pair the in-depth hands-on science of how all aspects of the planet 'works' with youth-led activities that allow young people to make a difference. We target our work to low-income children, teens, families, and the institutions serving them.
Description
"e" inc. is a non-profit, that started in 2002, located in Boston, MA, committed to joining science literacy and civic engagement as the 2 pillars necessary for creating citizen conservationists. We engage urban children and teens in three area cities in 'science education and making a difference’ through a combination of in-school, after-school, and summer programs. At every location, teams of children receive 7-11 critical science lessons paired with an action program of short and long-term projects created by our kids using the science concept studied for the benefit of planet. We also run a popular environment film festival once a year.
