Those three words are NHPCO's theme for National Volunteer Week 2013: comfort, love, respect. I think it so eloquently illustrates what you do as a hospice volunteer.
In hospice we value our volunteers for their natural capacity for compassion. Being a companion to someone that it facing the end of their life and supporting their family through this difficult, sometimes scary time, it what a hospice volunteer does. Hospice volunteers provide the comfort of a genuine smile, a warm touch, a loving presence. Hospice volunteers accept people as they are, never judging or imposing their beliefs on anyone.
