Meals on Wheels (MOW) Assessors Needed

Would you like to play a supporting role in our life-saving Meals on Wheels Program? We are looking for volunteers to assist with Meals on Wheels Assessments of homebound residents. The MOW Assessor will work under the supervision of the Meals on Wheels coordinator and make home visits to collect pertinent information to further assess the consumers' eligibility for the program.

Confidential information is collected using a variety of easy to understand forms. Pertinent information about the consumer will be documented. Information may include observations about general health, physical condition, frailty, mental health problems, or domestic conditions. The information will be shared with the Meals on Wheels coordinator and, based on the assessment, an eligibility letter will be sent to the recipient. A follow-up 6-month reassessment will be conducted over the telephone and a yearly in-home reassessment visit is required.

A great volunteer opportunity if you have a background in Nursing, Social Work, or Education.

Must possess the ability to fill out forms completely and correctly with strong social and communication skills. Orientation and training will be provided to ensure volunteers understanding of the Meals on Wheels regulations. Volunteer must have reliable transportation with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. The ability to follow mapping directions and read a map is essential. A background check must be complete to meet Spectrum Generations' eligibility requirements.
