GOT LIFE?
Hospice Volunteers add life to days when no more days may be added to life...
By bringing an open heart and a willingness to learn, you will make a difference in the lives of others, one person at a time - including you!
You'll learn a lot! Hospice patients and their caregivers share their wisdom and courage. You will learn about hope and resilience. You will also witness the changes people experience with a life-limiting illness and be companion to them and their families on the journey.
Volunteers are an essential part of the Kindred at Home - Hospice team. They bring a loving presence to individuals & families through visits to wherever the patient calls home, whether that is a nursing home, an assisted living facility or their own home.
Can you imagine yourself bringing comfort and support with friendly visits, reading aloud from a favorite book or newspaper, listening to stories from long ago, holding someone’s hand, sharing good humor and your presence?
Do you have gifts to share? Musical or artistic talents, training in complimentary therapies such as Reiki, massage, reflexology & a therapeutic pet.
Are you interested in using your skills in an office setting? Volunteer recruitment, filing & mailings, answering the phone - join our team!
Interns & Field Education Students who can commit to 1 year are welcome for hands on experience in gerontology, long term care, pastoral care and counseling.
Participation in an inspiring training program is required. You will receive on-going support and education throughout your volunteer experience. Orientation classes are offered several times a year and Home Study is always available.
Interview & Application Process required

Description
You can help Hospice patients in different ways:
1. Companionship to patients Hospice volunteers enhance and support the quality of the lives of hospice patients and their loved ones. Your visits offer companionship and support to patients and respite care to caregivers. You might encourage someone to talk about her life, write a letter, play a game or read a psalm from the bible.
2. Sharing Special Gifts and Talents: Volunteers offer their time and skills in the areas of art, music, alternative healing modalities, pet companionship, hairdressing. Do you have something to offer that is not listed here? Call us!
3. Support at the Hospice office: Filing, assembling admission packets, telephoning. These support activities really help us!
