Description
Rhode Island Free Clinic is a recognized leader in providing vital health services to improve the health of vulnerable Rhode Islanders. Even after the full implementation of the Affordable Care Act, over 50,000 uninsured, working poor, and low-income RI adults will be left without health care and nowhere else to turn. We are a critical part of the health care delivery system - the safety net for the safety net - in Rhode Island.
In 2014 the Clinic provided more than 7,000 patient visits through its active corps of 800 volunteers, a lean professional staff of 7, and 7 AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers. With an annual budget of $1 million, the Clinic leveraged over $5 million in additional resources to provide vital medical care to Rhode Island’s uninsured, working poor and low-income adults.
Rhode Island Free Clinic is the only medical home for Rhode Island’s uninsured, working poor and low-income adults that provides an on-site program integrating free primary care, chronic disease management and behavioral health services. Services and training are provided at a state-of the-art, 5,000 square foot facility in Providence.
