ORGANIZATION: Second Sense: Beyond Vision Loss

We are looking for a volunteer to support our Manager of Adaptive Technology Services with a variety of administrative tasks. This volunteer will interact with our clients over the phone and in the computer lab if necessary. The volunteer will also have the opportunity to learn about the assistive technology used by people with vision loss including screen reading and magnification software programs.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Provide reading and filing assistance
  • Record and track referrals from Department of Human Services
  • Schedule client staffings with DHS counselors
  • Conduct 6 month follow-ups with clients
  • Review and process Veterans Administration paperwork, referrals, purchase orders and final reports
  • Track volunteer technology tutor hours and clients served
  • Assist students in computer lab

We work with our community of volunteers, members and partners to effectively deliver our programs to the most people, while emphasizing an individual, client-centered service approach.

We provide services within three areas: independent living skills, orientation and mobility and assistive technology.
