Online Marketing @UFC

Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles is a used furniture and collectibles store on Grand Ave in Oakland. We are celebrating our 25th year in business! Everything in the store is donated. Oftentimes, we are offered the remains after an estate sale.

We go out to the estate (all over the bay area) with boxes and packing materials and pack-up the collectibles before the truck team arrives to load the furniture as well as collectibles. It’s fun! It's collective! And it means really important support for Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles, an economic development project of the African People's Education & Defense Fund (non-profit).

We need someone who has, or wants to learn, the skills required to:

  • Be the person responsible for completion of the on-site pack-up project
  • Lead a group of volunteers in packing up the collectibles
  • Know what items we can accept for donation (have sufficient value)
  • Working with the clients and home owners in a somewhat fluid environment
  • Troubleshoot, with the Marketing Coordinator’s assistance, any unexpected problems
  • Mondays and Tuesdays are common days for this activity. But other days can be possible.

We are an economic development project of the African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF). APEDF strives to develop and institutionalize programs to defend the human and civil rights of the African community and the address the grave disparities in education, health, health care and economic development faced by the African community.
