Do you like to work outside? This is the job for you! Habitat Restoration Crew Leaders work alongside national park rangers to lead groups of volunteers in habitat restoration efforts along the Mississippi River. Crew Leaders may give short (5-10 minute) interpretive talks, instruct on safe tool use and direct volunteers in invasive removal or native planting. Crew Leaders receive in-the-field and on-the-job training.
Crew Leaders should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to maintain a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor. Crew Leaders should be comfortable working with and supervising other volunteers and possess a general knowledge of ecology, botany and/or habitat restoration OR the interest and willingness to learn such. Crew Leaders work outdoors for 3-4 hour intervals, 1-2 times a month on weekdays. Event sites are primarily in St. Paul and Minneapolis. Contact Paula Swingley if interested. There will be new Crew Leader training on June 21 from 8:30-3:30 - a mix of "classroom" via zoom and on-site practice.
