A hospital stay for a child can be a lonely, frightening experience. Reading books and telling stories can brighten a young persons hospital stay and stimulate the imagination. Volunteer are needed to read to pediatric patients at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. You must be 18 years of age, and have a good command of the English language. Experience with children is highly preferred. Volunteers are required to commit to a minimum two hour shift one day per week and a total of 150 hours. To find out more about our reading program, or to inquire about other exciting volunteer opportunities, please call the Volunteer Services Department at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center at (718) 240-5277between 9:00am- 5:30pm, Monday through Friday.
