Volunteers are needed to help with the spring medicine drops in Mecklenburg County. Volunteers are asked to cover 2 or 4 hour shifts to hand out information on why the drops are important, take pictures, and to count the number of people that show up at the drop.

Description
Through its River Protection Program, YRK serves as a voice for the river, holding polluters accountable for poor water stewardship; promotes the river as an eco-tourism destination for all types of water recreation activities and raises awareness of the beauty and magnificence of North Carolina's 2nd largest river through its annual Tour de Yadkin; educates the community on the importance of clean water and the hazards of pharmaceutical flushing through its Operation Medicine Cabinet program, which provides the community an opportunity to have a vested interest in a cleaner, healthier Yadkin River by offering a safe alternative disposal method and encouraging the public to not flush their pharmaceuticals down the drain or toilet, but drop them off at take-back sites in the triad region each spring and fall.
