Without foster care providers, we cannot save lives! Open your home to a dog in need.

Foster Care is the temporary housing and daily care of a rescued dog until it is adopted into its forever home. By providing a stable environment, our foster care providers can help some dog heal from neglect or recover from an emotional issue, lack of socialization, an illness or medical condition. Whereas other dogs just need a short stay until adopted.

When fostering a dog or puppy for A Caring Place, we ask that you do the following:
1. Treat the dog as if it were your own pet - providing clean water, feeding it wholesome dog food twice daily, regular exercise, scheduled outdoor elimination (4-8 times per day), and a sleep area;
2. Work on housebreaking, good home manners, and proper leash behavior;
3. Take the dog to one of our veterinarians for medical attention or vetting;
4. Provide weekly updates to your Adoption Counselor on your foster dog’s progress, general behavior, and temperament;
5. Participate in our routine dog showings at Petco, special events, or other venues;
6. Collaborate with the Adoption Counselor for private showings to potential adoption applicants; and,
7. Be patient with your new house guest! We provide advice, counsel & encouragement.

Fostering requires dedication, but the rewards will outweigh the inconveniences. You will witness a dog’s over-all health improve: gain needed weight; fur becomes shiny again; and, best of all, see their spirit heal. Experience how rewarding it is to temporarily share your life with a dog who would have otherwise not made it out of the pound alive. You will know you have impacted a life when your foster dog looks at you in a very special way and you know they just said, ?Thank you for caring about me.? Please contact us today to learn more about fostering.

About A CARING PLACE - All Breed Dog Rescue

Location:

P.O. Box 989, Westmont, IL 60559, US

Mission Statement

A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned and unwanted dogs and puppies who are at greatest risk of euthanasia.

Our primary focus is reducing the number of deaths of adoptable dogs and puppies by rescuing them from county pounds, animal control facilities, and other shelters, rehabilitating them and placing the dogs up for adoption.

Secondly, we advocate on behalf of animals who are neglected, unwanted, abandoned, or abused including puppy-mill dogs, Pit Bull Terriers, and dogs living outside on a chain.

Thirdly, reducing cat and dog over-population by promoting neutering programs.

Description

A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue is exclusively foster based, so we do not have a facility nor kennel to house our dogs. Instead, every rescued animal lives in a temporary foster home until adopted. We are a no-kill rescue who does not set time limits for adoption, nor do we euthanize adoptable dogs due to old age or costly health care.

A Caring Place is run by volunteers; there are no paid staff or board members. In addition, we do not receive any county, state, or federal funds to operate. Instead, A Caring Place subsists entirely on donations, modest adoption fees, and continual fund raising efforts. Because A Caring Place is a recognized 501(c)(3) charity, every donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Since we opened in Summer of 2002, A Caring Place has successfully rehomed over 1,000 dogs and/or puppies into loving, permanent homes.
