The passenger assistance kiosk was designed to be a prominent Information and Assistance Center at 30 th Street Station and is supported by FFP, an Anonymous Donor and twelve dedicated volunteers who staff the booth seven days a week, from 9am to 5pm. We continue to operate our passenger assistance kiosk at the central concourse of 30th Street’s Amtrak Station in an effort to continue with the agency’s original mission of assisting stranded travelers.
In addition to passenger assistance, volunteers provide information to anyone in need of emergency shelter or other social services. Volunteers also provide tokens (supplied by Families Forward) to anyone stranded and in need. These volunteers are skilled and knowledgeable about the City of Philadelphia and provided travel and visitor information to about 90,000 Amtrak, SEPTA, and regional bus passengers last year.
Volunteer may be asked to also help with occasional fundraising efforts.

Mission Statement
The mission of Families Forward Philadelphia (FFP) is to help homeless families become healthy, productive, and self-reliant.
Description
Families Forward Philadelphia has emerged from - and revitalized - the legacy of the Travelers Aid Society of Philadelphia, which began in 1901, and was incorporated in 1915 to "provide information, advice, guidance and shelter to travelers" most of whom were new immigrants. We extended our mission during the Depression era to include housing and assistance to unemployed persons throughout Philadelphia and, in the 1990s; we developed a suite of modern programs to address homelessness and poverty. Today, we continue this legacy by engaging over 90,000 travelers at Amtrak's 30th Street Station annually all while continuing to help homeless familes at our facility reach their future goals.
Families Forward Philadelphia (Families Forward) helps homeless families with emergency shelter, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, intensive case management, counseling for everyone in the family, on-site access to health and dental care, and educational programming for the adults, children and teens in our care. We are the largest shelter in Philadelphia that houses the entire family, keeping children and parents together in a safe, warm and welcoming environment during a very stressful time. We accept men and teen boys, who are often not allowed in other shelters. Families Forward offers a pathway out of poverty and homelessness in Philadelphia, with our family shelter capacity of 69 rooms, operating 24/7, and 80 housing units throughout West Philly, serving an average of 300 families annually, including over 500 children.CAUSE AREAS
