Volunteers are a crucial element to the Longleaf Hospice team, bringing an extra layer of care and support to our patients and their loved ones. At Longleaf, our volunteers help make patients' and caregivers' lives easier.

We are actively seeking compassionate, caring, and dedicated volunteers to offer:

  • Provide emotional support & companionship for patients and families, such as listening, providing comfort touch & friendship, reading, playing music, writing letters, playing games, assisting with life review, organizing
  • Help with light household chores: prepare food, do laundry, wash dishes, dust, vacuum, make beds
  • Assistance with shopping and errands, such as going to the grocery store.
  • Help with home maintenance, such as light gardening, yard work and home repairs, such as installing shower bars
  • Caregiver Respite: Stay with patient while caregiver gets away--up to 4 hours per week

Volunteers can choose which part of our geographical area they would like to concentrate on and are offered flexible choices in scheduling.

Note: Volunteers are not expected to assist with personal care (bathing, toileting, dressing, administering medications, etc.).
