The NAMI Greater Boston Peer Support and Advocacy Network (PSAN):
www.namiboston.org/people-living-mental-illness/
is a peer-run organization helping people advance in their recovery from mental health and/or addictions. The public policy associate will help PSAN advocate for policies and laws which improve the quality of life for people with mental health and/or addictions. The associate will be be helping to organize existing advocates and recruit new advocates and teaching them how to do individual and systemic advocacy.
We are always happy to talk to people about NAMI, the nation's largest grassroot advocacy organization.

The associate will also analyze state and Federal legislation and report back to our staff and members.

We will participate in various lobby days at the State House, preparing people to meet with legislators and in emailing, calling or writing public officials. We also will be partnering with allied organizations. You will be working closely co-founder Howard D. Trachtman, BS, CPS, CPRP, COAPS a nationally recognized mental health advocate. NAMI GB CAN also helps staff the Hope Center www.hoperlc.org and is a partner of the Metro Boston Recovery Learning Community www.metrobostonrlc.org Some work can be done outside of the office. Mission Statement

NAMI GB CAN (NAMI Greater Boston Consumer Advocacy Network) provides support, education and advocacy. We are a grassroots organization of people with lived experience of mental health treatment (Peers). We are an affiliate of NAMI-MASS (National Alliance on Mental Illness of Massachusetts). We are dedicated to eliminating the stigma and discrimination of those labeled with mental illness.

NAMI is known as the "Nation's Voice on Mental Illness" and we at GB-CAN believe that this voice must be recovery-oriented and value the lived experience of Peers.

NAMI Greater Boston Consumer Advocacy Network (NAMI GBCAN) www.namigbcan.org is an
affilliate of NAMI Massachusetts (National Alliance on Mental Illness of Massachusetts). While anyone is welcome
to join or volunteer, most of our active members have lived experience with mental health treatment.

fighting for rights and helping people become employed. Our pillars of advocacy are
support, education and advocacy. We do much advocacy work by going to the state house

We are an partner of the Metro Boston Recovery Learning Community www.mbrlc.org
and help staff the Hope Recovery Center www.hoperlc.org

We also help people navigate the mental health system and provide numerous social activities
for our members.
