The Homes for Children Corporation currently seeks a Development Associate/Grant Writer Intern to prepare grant proposals, support donor relations and coordinate fundraising campaigns. This intern position works closely with the Executive Director developing funding strategies and fundraising campaigns statewide.
Primary duties include:
* Operate and monitor gift process from solicitation to acknowledgement of gift
* Conduct administrative tasks for the development department as directed
* Prepare presentation materials for meetings and presentations
* Track department expense and budget requests
* Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for funding organizations
* Provide prospective donors with information, including site visits, to solicit funds for regional programs and needs
* Conduct research and write foundation proposals in concert with fundraising strategies coordinated with the Director
* Maintain development records for donors, donor prospects, contacts, foundations and corporations
* Manage fundraising campaigns including the Annual Fund solicitation - from developing solicitation strategies to production of collateral, mailing and tracking responses
* Coordinate communication with the regional Board of Directors
* Manage development database for donors, donor prospects, contacts, foundations and corporations
* Coordinate and create promotional and media material
Minimum qualifications include:
* Pursuing Bachelors' degree or equivalent experience required
* Experience operating and reporting on all functions of fundraising and development department for a non-profit or similar institution
* Experience in prospect research, grant development and proposal writing
* Experience in coordinating special events
* Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
* Ability to work independently
* Excellent communication skills
* Good organization and time management skills
