v Lighthouse Hospice is dedicated to providing hospice care at a level of excellence that will give new expression to Dr. Cicely Saunders’ definition of hospice as "precise attention to detail."

v We are dedicated to expert symptom control so patients may discover their own quality of life in the days left to them.

v We are dedicated to affirming life and dignity while neither hastening nor postponing death.

v We are dedicated to relieving the stress of the patients and families as they struggle with meaningful ways of saying good-bye.

v We are dedicated to identifying and educating a supportive community that will be sensitive to the needs of the dying patient and his/her loved ones.

v We are dedicated to offering palliative care to all terminally ill patients and support to those patients and their families without regard for diagnosis, gender, sexual orientation, race, creed, disability, age, place of residence or ability to pay.

We are dedicated to honoring and respecting the core values and wishes of the patients and families we serve.

Description

Volunteers are an integral part of the Lighthouse Hospice team. They contribute immeasurably to provide that "special touch" which makes all the difference to a family caring for a loved one with a limited life expectancy.

Our volunteers assist in many areas of service. Many provide home visits with patients while family members rest, tend to business and household matters, or participate in needed social or recreational outlets. Some provide emotional support and companionship to patients and families during a difficult time. Others enjoy running errands or performing light household chores. Clerical volunteer opportunities may include typing, filing or help with mailings.

Lighthouse Hospice looks for volunteers who reflect our mission of providing quality hospice care to all terminally ill patients and support to their families. They truly make our program possible.
