Hospice families and patients appreciate companionship visits, phone calls, prayers, cards of hope and support, homemaking assistance, someone to run errands or sit with the patient while the caregiver takes a break. Do you have special skills or training such as music, massage or pet therapy? Are you only interested in volunteering from your home? Train to make patient 'tuck in' phone calls or to write meaningful notes to patients to lend an additional level of support. Craft special welcome gifts or mementos to give families during bereavement. Patients and families love small, homemade gifts of warmth and compassion. If you've read through this, there is something in your heart that you can share with a hospice family! Hospice is something most of us will need and use at some point. End of Life is a labor of love, hope, and community just as the beginning of life.This is a great opportunity to get those volunteer credits you need for school. I will work volunteering around your schedule so you can continue to go to school and work.
