Patient care volunteers provide support to hospice patients and their families often by just spending time with them, calling them or just listening. Volunteers are needed for companionship visits, to offer relief to caregivers in the home, to run errands, read aloud ,even painting nails of a patient who still wants to look good while battleing a life altering illness.Work as a bereavement volunteer and help support the family after the death of a loved one by sending a card or calling to check up on them. Assist with special events, play games with or serve ice cream to seniors in nursing homes around the metro area . Educate the community about hospice at a local health fair. Help out with administrative tasks in the hospice office. Those who have a special calling may train to be compassionate support for a family during the last hours of a person's life. Someone needs you, you just haven’t met them yet! Were a great place to get those community hours for college. I will work with any schedule to get you the hours you need and in return my patients get a volunteer for a few months .Most of my volunteers only work a few hours a month and as little as 1 hour 2 times a month can really make a difference !www.heavenlyhospiceok.com 405-701-2536

Description

Hospice care is specialized care for the terminally ill. A hospice is an organization that provides this special care. Hospice caregivers visit and care for people at the end stage of life in their private home or in a nursing home, assisted living, etc. Each hospice is unique but all hospices share the same basic mission and philosophy.Heavenly Hospice’s philosophy is to provide support and care for persons in the last stages of a terminal illness so that they live life as fully and comfortably as possible. At Heavenly Hospice we believe the dying process is a natural part of life. Our team and programs provide a continuum of care services that support the patient and family in all aspects. Our philosophy is that patients have choices in how they approach daily living. We offer and respect those choices and do everything possible to meet the needs of patients and their families. We strive to educate families and take really good care of them. Our staff of volunteers can even work on weekends and evenings. We offer to mow a lawn, give a haircut, clean out a refrigerator, or just talk. We offer programs and services outside of just the traditional ones, e.g., pet therapy, music therapy, and birthday celebrations. Volunteers offer another level of support to families and work as a team alongside our nurses, home health aides, chaplains, social workers.
