The SHARE! Exchange Program Coordinator (EPC)

An EPC is dedicated to the promotion of world peace and cultural tolerance. As an EPC, you proudly promote the SHARE! program in your community, the local schools and among prospective host families.
Through a cross-cultural homestay experience, international teens come to communities throughout the United State and attend local public high schools. The EPC chooses families for these teens and communicates with the local schools so that they are ready for the students' arrival. During the students' stay, the EPC meets regularly with the teens and families, helping them with adjustments and assisting them in ways to make their cultural exchange the experience of a lifetime for everyone involved!

Other EPC qualities include: commitment, persistence, flexibility, and the ability to work toward and accomplish established goals. Empathy, humor, understanding of human relationships, particularly those involving teens, counseling/mediation skills and being organized are also important.

Join our existing network of dedicated and knowledgeable EPCs! Become the key person in your community in providing a quality program for everyone involved in the exchange experience. Lifelong relationships begin with you!

How do I become a SHARE! EPC?

The SHARE! program provides each EPC with ongoing information that covers all aspects of the exchange experience, ranging from screening and orienting host families and students and working productively with schools to student supervision, conflict resolution, and cross-cultural communication. EPCs work within the SHARE! team and report directly to Team Leaders, receiving support and encouragement along the way.

If you are interested in joining the SHARE! team, please go to http://www.erdtshare.org/ and click on "BECOME A COORDINATOR" and then on the left click on APPLY NOW. Please fill out the "EPC Application" and "Authorization For Background Check" and e-mail to us.

Thank you for your interest, we look forward to working with you!

Mission Statement

In 1980, ERDT was designated by the United States Information Agency (now part of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs) to sponsor a Teenager High School Exchange Program -- our SHARE! High School Exchange Program.

ERDT/SHARE! now places more than 700 international students a year with American host families while they attend local high schools. ERDT also organizes various Special Programs, including short-term home stays and outbound programs for Americans.

The goal of ERDT is to provide opportunities for people of different cultures to come together to learn about other points of view and ways of life. We at ERDT believe that cross-cultural understanding is fundamental to developing mutual respect and tolerance between Americans and people from around the world. Our programs provide cultural experiences that foster good will, tolerance, and understanding through a positive people-to-people experience.
