ORGANIZATION: Parents Helping Parents

ABOUT PARENTS HELPING PARENTS:

Parents Helping Parents is a nonprofit offering two services to parents in need: Parent Support Groups and a Parental Stress Line. Parent Support Groups are for parents who want to improve their relationship with their children. Parents come to our Support Groups seeking encouragement and feedback on parenting-related issues. Shared leadership, trust, respect, responsibility, and positive parenting are key components of our Support Groups. Groups provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for creating positive and caring peer relationships. Our approach is preventative; once the emotional support of the parent has been strengthened, a parent is better able to actively guide and nurture their family.

DESCRIPTION:

Parents Helping Parents is seeking a volunteer co-facilitator to help guide our Parent Support Group in the Lynn area. As a co-facilitator, you foster a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.

Volunteer co-facilitators must demonstrate an understanding of stressors within a family that could potentially trigger child abuse and/or neglect. Volunteer co-facilitators must also have previous experience with parents and families.

Volunteers are required to attend a one-time 14-hour training held in our Watertown, MA office. Co-Facilitators must also commit to running a group, weekly, for 1.5 hours, on one weeknight for the duration of 1 year.
