The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) sponsors Summer Camp, a special place where love and friendship abound...where barriers do not exist. Youngsters with a neuromuscular disease can experience first hand the pleasures that an active life has to offer and learn skills they can enjoy year round! Camp is located in King, NC at Camp Hanes.

The MDA district offices of Eastern Carolina provide our youngsters the opportunity to attend Summer Camp at no cost to their families! Camp offers a wide variety of activities specifically designed for children who have limited mobility or use wheelchairs. Activities include swimming, arts and crafts, horseback riding, talent show, dance, cookout with sponsors and VIP day. For youngsters with neuromuscular diseases, MDA camp is a magical place. Each day is filled with new and exciting adventures.

Camp programs, although structured, are conducted in a relaxed atmosphere that gives campers an unmatched opportunity to develop long lasting friendships. This year’s Summer Camp theme, "Sci Fi/Fantasy." We will have a fun pep rally, prom and sporting activities! Counselors must be over the age of 18 and must be able to commit to the full week of camp, June 7-13, 2014. 144 community service hours will be provided to each volunteer counselor.

MDA is also recruiting RN's, PAs, MDs, and PT/OT/RTs to act as our full time medical staff. Healthcare professionals listed above MUST be licensed in the State of NC. Applicants must be cleared to administer medications and first aid.
