Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity is a non-denominational Christian ministry that mobilizes volunteers to build community, revitalize neighborhoods, and transform lives in partnership with community organizations and working families in need of safe, decent affordable homes across Lancaster County.
The front desk volunteer supports the work of Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity by answering the phone, greeting patrons, and assisting with light secretarial duties. Volunteers must be comfortable working in an office environment, answering and transferring phone calls, greeting walk-ins, making copies, and assisting with mass mailings.
If you are fluent in another language this knowledge is helpful, but not required.
We are looking for volunteers with weekday availability between 10am-1pm.

Description
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit with affordable financing. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses. Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their Habitat house and the houses of others
