THE TOP 10 REASONS TO BECOME A GIRL SCOUT LEADER
10.It’s Free! Well, almost. For just $12.00 a year you can be a part of the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls. By girls, for girls, is what it’s all about!
9. It’s Fun! Where else can you enjoy girls at a relaxed pace, on your own time and do anything you want (within reason)?
It’s Flexible. You meet when you want, where you want and how often you want. Days, nights, weekends, whenever. School, church, home, community building, wherever. Once a month, twice a month, every week. It’s up to you!
7. It’s Easy! We provide a ton of resources and teach you how to use them. Would the Romans have sent a gladiator into the ring without a little training? Well, we won’t throw you to the lions unprepared either!
6. Not crafty? Neither is 50% of the population! But you can rest assured that someone in your troop will be and will be dying to help you out! For that matter, all of the parents in the troop will be able to contribute something to the group. Let them help you!
5. Work schedule a problem? Let’s face it. 95% of all Girl Scout volunteers are working mothers with more than one child at home. Many are single parents.
4. Ask not what your community can do for you but what you can do for your community. Girl Scouting is a great way to get involved in your neighborhood, your city, your state and your country. Opportunities abound. Just ask. We can point you in the right direction.
3. Not experienced working with kids? No Excuse. As we said, we’ll give you the resources and train you to use them. You’ll be feeling like a pro before you know it and will be wondering why you ever hesitated.
2. "Make new friends....". You will meet sooo many great girls and women (and some men, too) in Girl Scouting! It really is a sisterhood and you will make life long friends whom you can always count on.
