JDRF Illinois Young Leadership Committee (YLC) is a group of young business and civic professionals who are actively involved with JDRF and are dedicated to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D)
why we’re here
The JDRF Illinois YLC goals are to create awareness of T1D among Chicagoland’s vibrant young professionals population and to raise money to fund diabetes research. With increased awareness, we hope to build a devoted support network for years of ongoing funding, as well as share important information about T1D and its complications.
how we’re different
The JDRF Illinois YLC is affiliated with the JDRF Illinois Chapter. The JDRF Illinois YLC is a dedicated group of entrepreneurial leaders with a unique depth and breadth of experiences from some of Chicago’s top companies and organizations. Our members have special links to the disease, whether they battle diabetes everyday personally or are connected through a friend, colleague or family member.
here’s how you can help
We need involvement and support from Chicagoland businesses, as well as corporate and civic community leaders like you, to help us create awareness, increase membership, and continue to raise funds for diabetes research. With your endorsement and support, whether it is through silent auction items, monetary donations, in-kind products, services and/or venues, you will help us come closer to finding a cure for the millions of people who are affected by diabetes each and every day.

Mission Statement
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, policy influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D. JDRF’s highest priority remains funding research to deliver a cure for T1D and its complications. At the same time, JDRF is also focused on developing better treatments that will transform the way people with T1D treat the disease today, in order to help them live healthier lives now and in the future. Finally, JDRF also seeks to prevent T1D, to keep future generations from developing the disease.
Description
JDRF-funded research has led to many landmark advances in T1D science. JDRF is in the exciting position of taking that research knowledge and translating it into real therapies that will make life-changing differences for those facing the daily challenges of T1D, funding more than 50 human clinical trials. We strategically partner with industry, government, foundations, academia, healthcare insurers, and clinicians to ensure that JDRF and its partners are working toward a common goal of a world without T1D. JDRF’s advocacy efforts help support a variety of issues that are critical to JDRF achieving its research objectives. JDRF’s outreach efforts provide practical support and resources for people with T1D and their families every step of the way. JDRF has always been dedicated to maintaining the highest levels of efficiency to ensure that our time, resources, and dollars can achieve the greatest possible impact on the lives of people with T1D.
