ISF Students
A few of ISF's students at the 2012 Bigger & Better event at the Morton Meyerson Symphony Center.

ISF is looking for individuals who have an interest in mentoring a young adult (ages 18 - 25) who is attending college and has either been an orphan or has aged out of the foster system. These youth do not have a traditional family they can rely on so our mentors act as surrogate family to help them through their college years. Mentors must be willing to give a minimum of 2 hours a month for at least one year. We are looking for individuals who have a strong faith in Christ and are comfortable mentoring over the phone.

Mission Statement

The International Student Foundation (ISF) is an organization committed to changing lives through education, mentoring and leadership training. Its mission is to transform orphaned or former foster care students into tomorrow’s leaders by providing leadership mentoring as well as tuition assistance through scholarships during the recipient’s college journey.

Description

The International Student Foundation (ISF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation committed to changing lives through education, mentoring and leadership training. ISF was founded by two long-term Dallas area residents, Ben and Deanna Carroll, with the mission to transform orphaned or former foster care students into tomorrow's leaders by providing leadership mentoring as well as tuition assistance through scholarships during the recipient's college journey. The ISF Team is dedicated to making a difference in the life of each student that we sponsor. But then, this is no ordinary scholarship. Recipients of an ISF scholarship not only receive tuition assistance to the college of their choice, but they also receive personal, one-on-one mentoring and leadership training. When assigned a mentor, each student recipient receives a commitment of time and attention devoted purely to their individual growth and leadership development. There is no other program of its kind that puts such an emphasis on the mentoring and provides the level of scholarship dollars to its students. Other organizations provide mentoring but it is not mandatory and it is through electronic media. While others may provide generous scholarships the average is far below the value provided by ISF. Most available scholarships provide assistance for undergraduate degrees while ISF provides for undergraduate, graduate, masters, and specialty. It is this attention to the student that makes ISF unique and makes it a sought after scholarship experience.
