Provide a healthy, child-friendly meal on a Saturday or Sunday evening for the Families staying at Hawthorn Hill's New Directions Shelter. Dinner must be dropped off by 4:45pm and may be ready-to-eat or can be cooked/heated up at the shelter. Dinner would serve approximately 25-30 people, 2/3 of those children. No desserts necessary. This is an easy and fun way to volunteer at the shelter, whether you only want to provide one meal, or meals on a regular basis. Description
Hawthorn Hill has been helping homeless families with children for more than 26 years. Hawthorn Hill helps families in need of emergency shelter (New Directions Shelter program) and supportive housing (The Home Connection program) in our community. Families served are very low-income, and approximately 50% are of minority/ethnic status. During 2011, Hawthorn Hill served 153 homeless families, including 363 children, through our two programs who otherwise may have been living on the streets.
