Do you want to share your international travel experiences with first time travelers?

We are looking for passionate travelers who are interested in educating their local community on various aspects of world travel including planning a trip, safety, health, and cross cultural sensitivity.

We have classes that are already created and curriculum based so you don't have to re-invent the wheel...just include your personal travel stories and tips!

We ask for travel class volunteers to meet with our Regional Engagement Manager for training and if possible, depending on location, to first attend one travel class for observation.

Travel class topics include:

  • World Travel 101
  • Europe on a Shoestring
  • Women Traveling Solo
  • Family Budget Travel
  • US National Parks and Hostel Hopping
  • Southeast Asia
  • We are always looking to expand our travel class menu, so if you want to create a class with the help of an HI staff member, please let us know!

Travel classes are generally held once or twice a month in the evening, but we can work with you to find a fit for your schedule and what works best for your community. Exact locations in the Greater New Orleans area are still to be determined; however, we usually offer classes at sporting goods stores, colleges/universities, public libraries, and/or for independent groups (such as travel groups or outdoor groups).

Our travel classes are often pre-scheduled (1-3 months in advance) and we advertise in the general community and online. If you have local contacts or suggestions for marketing in your local community, we would appreciate your input. If you'd like HI-USA to speak to your group, please let us know.

Thanks for your interest in volunteering with Hostelling International-USA to help encourage others to get out and explore our world through travel!
