Uhuru Furniture will work with you to set up a group "Door-hanging Day". Your group is invited to bring from 2 - 25 people to volunteer together on a single day. You arrange the day that works best for your group for a 4 hr block of time. We'll provide a brief training, water & snacks. Lunch is sometimes arranged for larger groups. (We go out every Saturday and Sunday from 11am-3pm, so this is a good time for us)
Your efforts will support the African People's Education and Defense Fund - www.apedf.org
APEDF is initiating programs across the country for sustainable economic development, community & youth upliftment, health and social justice in the black community.
Each hour worked by a member of your group raises $100-$150 for sustainable economic development in the hands of the African community. For example - if you bring 15
volunteers - in just 3 hours you can help raise $1500-$2250 for APEDF!
What is "Door-hanging"?
An activity that is great for medium - large groups.
Promotes Uhuru Furniture all over the Bay Area for furniture donations & shopping
Organized sub-teams of 2 take designated blocks and hang Uhuru flyers on doorknobs
(no knock & talk)
Reaches donors right at their door and Uhuru gets immediate and future donations!
A fun, outdoor project that is physical and lets you explore the Bay Area.
Uhuru Furniture engages hundreds of volunteers each year to make our goal of 30,000 - 40,000 door-hangers per year! We work with high school groups like Building with Books and college groups like Circle K and various fraternities & sororities. If your group engages in community service or your school has a community service requirement for all students, the Uhuru Furniture "Door-hanging Day(s)" is perfect!
