Each day, cancer patients in your community struggle to find transportation to potentially life-saving treatments. Many are too ill to drive themselves and do not have friends or family members who are available to take them.
The American Cancer Society Road to Recovery program helps to relieve this burden by providing free transportation, provided by volunteer drivers, to these cancer related appointments.
Volunteer drivers donate their time and the use of their vehicle to transport patients to the treatments they need. In Crawford County we are fortunate to also have a van that can be used by volunteer drivers to transport patients, especially on out of town trips.
When a patient does not have a ride, they often need to cancel or reschedule appointments which can be detrimental to their treatment. Patients are very grateful for this program which truly could help save their life.
The need for this program continues to rise and we are currently unable to keep up with the demand.
