Description:

First Fridays in downtown Lancaster are fun, educational and community oriented. Help Lancaster Public Library create its own brand of family friendly First Fridays with art exhibits, art activiites, music and games for children. Individuals with experience reading to children can spend time in the story circle during the evening.

Volunteers recruit artists, prepare food, plan children's activities, create posters, and have fun.If you enjoy art, cook or enjoy organizing, or have many contacts with artists and performers, this is the group for you.
First Fridays take place from 5:30-8:00 on the First Friday of each month excluding January and July.

Volunteers choose the months they are available to volunteer and the time slots which would be about two hours for the evening. Set up time starts at 4pm.

Requirements: Volunteers must be 16 or older.

As one of the oldest public libraries in the country, Lancaster Public Library has been providing library service in Lancaster for over 260 years. Lancaster Public Library has two locations in the county including the main branch at 125 N. Duke Street in the City of Lancaster and the Mountville Branch at 120 College Avenue in Mountville.

Our free public library services include:

»Research, business, and historical reference collections
»Research assistance by skilled professional reference librarians
»Educational, recreational, and cultural programs and events for children, teens, adults, and seniors in collaboration community organizations
»Public computers with Internet access, as well as computer instruction for adults
»Online access to databases
»Public meeting rooms for approved community activities
»Quiet research and training areas
»Special language collections

In addition to basic library services, Lancaster Public Library offers special and unique information services to specific groups of individuals in the community like the Duke Street Business Center, the World Languages Collection, and the Autism Resource Collection.
