The Free Store located at 500-A Spratt Street, Charlotte, NC, 28206, provides donated clothing, household items, furniture, and appliances all at no charge to families in need, so that people can use their limited resources on other necessities. Volunteers sort and inspect donations, stock the Free Store, and assist as needed.
The Free Store is open for volunteers, Tuesday-Saturday 9:00am-4:30 pm. Volunteers must be at least 5 years old. Volunteers under 16 years old must be accompanied by 1 adult for every 5 youth volunteers.
We allow groups to come at the following shift times: 9-11am or 2:30-4:30pm. We can have a maximum of 30 volunteers. Saturdays are our most popular shifts and can fill up very quickly.

Emergency Financial Assistance- helps prevent evictions, utility disconnections, and hunger.
Free Store/Furniture and Appliance store- provides clothing, household items, and furniture to low- income families at no cost.
Through our mission we are:
addressing the immediate crisis with emergency rent and utility assistance, clothing, household goods, furniture and appliances.
providing counseling, services and support to give families the tools they need to move toward financial stability.
educating the community about the realities of poverty in Mecklenburg County.
