RSVP of Brevard is recruiting volunteers for the Brevard Association for the Advancement of the Blind.
Start the new year out helping adults with visual loss learn new ways of doing everyday things! RSVP of Brevard is recruiting volunteers to become life skills teachers for the Brevard Association for the Advancement of the Blind (BAAB) Program for Independent Living (PIL). PIL is unique in that it teaches individuals with visual impairments critical skills to enable them to remain safe and independent in their own homes, and provides students with the means to manage most every aspect of daily living, including social and community interests, without assistance. PIL is also free-of-charge for participants. Training is provided, and the program consists of eight classes held each Friday from 10am to 2pm. Students and teachers will find BAAB a comfortable, supportive and home-like environment which helps to facilitate learning success.

Description
Make a Difference in Your Community!
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through sharing centers, meals on wheels, transportation, United Way, and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
