Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg brings people together to build homes and hope in the communities of Hampton, James City County, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg and York County.
Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg partners with area families, local government, businesses, faith groups, schools, associations and individual volunteers and donors to build safe, decent affordable homes and also to repair homes for lower-income families.
As our Furniture Restoration Specialist, you can have a direct impact on the community in which you serve. Your creations will be featured in our store for purchase and display. We need individuals skilled in furniture restoration to add to our store’s collection. Tools, materials, and workspace will be provided; however, we encourage bringing tools from home to add your own personal touch. Note: Volunteer participation will not lead to employment. Mission Statement
The ultimate goal of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate substandard housing by constructing safe, decent and affordable housing. Habitat homeowners are selected based on need, ability to pay and willingness to partner. We rely on individuals and businesses to donate their gently used building materials in order for the ReStore to be able to fulfill its mission. As a program of Habitat for Humanity, the ReStore supplies overstocked, discontinued, new and used building materials donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals. These donated items are sold to the public. All revenue from sales supports our building program right here in our community!
Description
Habitat for Humanity ReStore welcomes quality donations of building materials from individuals, contractors and businesses. Donating your new or used materials is cost effective and helps to reduce waste. Also, you are helping the ReStores to reach their goal of providing affordable housing to those in need.
