The Children's Christmas Programs & Toys for Tots at TrueNorth provide Newaygo County low income families with gifts for their children during the holiday season. In order to collect gifts for children in Newaygo County, there are drop boxes placed at many local businesses and organizations. Volunteers are an integral part of collecting toys by choosing 1-2 drop box locations to check on a weekly basis leading up to the event. The toys are collected from the box, brought to TrueNorth, and inventoried by the designated volunteer.
Collection box distribution starts Monday, November 10, 2014 and continues until Friday, December 12. There will be drop boxes located in Fremont, Grant, Hesperia, Newaygo, and White Cloud.
There will be a Volunteer Orientation to pass out the collection boxes, nametags, inventory sheets, and other information as well as an opportunity to ask questions and address concerns. Volunteer Orientation will be held on Thursday, November 6 OR Friday, November 7. Although Volunteer Orientation is not required, it is highly recommended that volunteers attend on one of the dates to receive all necessary information.
To find out which locations are still available and sign up to volunteer, please contact Jena Zeerip at 231-924-0641, ext. 110 or jzeerip@truenorthservices.org.
