Do you like clothes? The Clothes Closet thrift store is open to anyone looking for a bargain on gently used clothing. Eligible families also receive clothing vouchers for free clothing. The Clothes Closet is 100% volunteer operated. As a volunteer, you make it possible for families-in-need to receive clothing essentials. If you enjoy thrift stores, this is the opportunity for you!
Ways to Help
- Sorter - sort and organize clothing donations. This activity is group friendly, youth friendly, and ESL friendly.
- Cashier - conduct simple purchase transaction and track daily sales.
- eBay - turn special donations into valuable proceeds to support Neighbors’ programs.
Time Commitment
- Volunteer for a minimum of one 3 hour shift per week.
- Shifts include:
- Monday - Thursday: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, and 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
- Friday - Saturday: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, and 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
- An ongoing commitment is preferred; however, short term and one-time volunteers are also welcome.
Impact
- Make a positive impact in your community with a team of dedicated volunteers and staff.
- Utilize and strengthen your organizational skills and customer service skills.
- Each year, more than 100,000 dollars-worth of clothing is recycled back into the community. More than 15,000 dollars-worth of gently-used clothing donations were provided free to families in need by our volunteers.
At Neighbors, all donations and volunteer service directly supports the local community.

Since 1972, Neighbors, Inc. has ensured that all people in the northern Dakota County live hopeful, independent and self-sufficient lives. Volunteers serve their neighbors in need through programs such as a food shelf, Clothes Closet thrift store, holiday assistance, and much more.
