Museums by Candlelight is a Historic Sites Consortium program that takes place on December 14, 2019 from 12:00pm-7:00pm. Shifts are 12:00-3:30pm and 3:30-7:00pm. As a Consortium program most museums throughout Frederick County participate. Museums are free of charge and visitors typically travel from museum to museum for some holiday cheer.
Museums by Candlelight Volunteer duties range from telling visitors about past and current Christmas traditions, leading children's craft stations, and greeting visitors to the museum.
Candlelight Program
Join us at the Museum of Frederick County History for some holiday cheer. Hear the tales of historic holiday and winter traditions of Frederick County and their residents as you explore the museum. Then take part in Festival of Trees by voting for your favorite. For the young and young at heart, join us for Cocoa with Santa from 2-4 pm. Santa Claus will be visiting the museum and is eager to meet our young visitors and listen to Christmas lists. All are welcome to partake in seasonal treats, crafts and games.

Heritage Frederick (The Historical Society of Frederick County, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization dedicated to increasing public understanding and appreciation of the history of Frederick County, Maryland. The society collects and preserves artifacts and documents for study and education, and welcomes the participation of people of all ages in sharing informative and engaging experiences that will encourage them to discover and appreciate their heritage.
Description
The Historical Society of Frederick County operates the Museum of Frederick County History, the Roger Brooke Taney House and the Frederick County Archives and Research Center, and offers engaging educational programs and special events throughout the year.
