GHAP Consultant in Cameroon
Cindy Wilke, founder and director of GHAP, with Finance Team from Ngaoundere Protestant Hospital in Cameroon, West Africa

Health administration experts serve as volunteer GHAP consultants to faith-based health systems in developing countries (Client). Our GHAP consultants are sent in teams of two with a person who is familiar with the Client. On-site involvement is often 2 weeks per year, with ongoing communication between visits. Culture-specific orientation is provided to each volunteers. Consultants volunteer their time to prepare for and conduct the consultation, prepare recommendations and reports and maintain contact with the Client and GHAP. GHAP provides processes and tools, manages the logistics, and reimburses travel expenses. We currently need volunteers with experience in governance, finance and supply chain management to work with Clients in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Liberia, Madagascar, Nigeria, and Tanzania.

Mission Statement

Global Health Ministries (GHM) continues the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by enhancing health care programs of Lutheran Churches in other countries.

Description

GHM provides the Gift of Life by helping the hands that heal. GHM delivers its services through three programs:

  1. Shipping needed medical supplies and equipment: in 2011, GHM shipped 9 containers in support of hospitals and clinics to seven countries (Liberia, Tanzania, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Madagascar, Bulawayo and Zimbabwe) valued at over $1,500,00.
  2. Funding health care programs: In 2011, GHM funded more than $950,000 to 48 projects in twenty countries. One example is an integrated initiative in Southern Madagascar that combines efforts in primary health, sanitation and clean water, education, evangelism and small business development in one program to enhance the health of poor villages. GHM's work greatly improves the quality of life for nearly 1 million people.
  3. Recruiting personnel in support of health systems: One example is GHM's program called Global Health Administration Partners (GHAP). GHAP enhances the management of faith-based health systems by recruiting and sending volunteer health administrators on short-term mission work to mentor and teach local health administrators and governing boards.
