Every year, the Schuylkill Center hosts a public program called the Halloween Hikes. Families and community members are invited to participate in a guided evening hike through the Schuylkill Center’s woodlands. Volunteers dressed as nocturnal animals are strategically placed along the trails. At each animal station, participants are engaged by the animal actors and are given a small prize in the spirit of Halloween. The outdoor fun does not end with the hike, there is also a camp fire with s’mores, a hayride, and pumpkin painting and refreshments indoors! With an expectation of 300 visitors, this really fun event takes a lot of work and a lot of volunteers (like you!) to pull it all off. This year our Hikes will be held on October 24th and 25th from 6-10 P.M. If you volunteer, you will receive a pizza or hoagie dinner on the evening /s that you volunteer, as well as two free tickets for you or your friends and family members to attend the event.
