If you are looking for a way to share your time with others, there are many opportunities to volunteer with the Northland Therapeutic Riding Center (NTRC).
NTRC is located north of the river a little northwest of Kearney, Mo. at 13608 Henson Rd., Holt, Mo.
People with horse experience often assist us a horse leader. Horse leaders exercise and groom our horses and also lead horses for riders. Those without horse experience or who just want the opportunity to interact more with our riders, may choose to sidewalk and assist the riders while in the saddle. Other volunteers assist us with barn and arena maintenance such as watering the arena or cleaning stalls.
Many of our volunteers assist us two hours a week until our season ends on Thursday, Nov. 15 when we take a break for the winter. We have continuous orientation for new volunteers and I generally do that on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons/evenings for anyone who is ready to start assisting us with the gift of their time.
Those who can't commit on a regular weekly basis assist in other ways. For example, we have an annual horse show as well as many other fund rasing events, there are lots of ways to help at those events as well.
Those interested in volunteering may submit a volunteer application on our website at: www.northlandtrc.org. Additional information is on our Facebook page or you may contact me via email at jennntrc@gmail.com or phone (text or voice) at 816-808-1106. Thanks! Jenn Lowrey

Description
Northland Therapeutic Riding Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that focuses on improving the quality of life of children and adults with special needs through equine-oriented therapy and activities. At NTRC, therapeutic riding instructors, volunteers, riders, and horses are partners in the equine-assisted therapeutic process.
Individuals with a wide range of physical, emotional, and learning challenges can benefit from work with the horse. Equine-assisted activities have been shown to improve balance, posture, muscle tone, coordination, and motor development as well as emotional well-being. It's also fun!
Northland Therapeutic Riding Center now has it’s own home located in a picturesque setting with 32 acres just 23 miles north of Kansas City, Mo. The serenity and peacefulness of this location is very conducive to the goals of the program, and provides a nurturing and strengthening environment.
