Are you interested in helping to feed needy pets, and keeping them in their forever homes? If you are over 18, come volunteer to meet & greet the public, encourage food donations, and make a difference in thousands of pets' lives.

Most communities have a homeless pet problem. In recent years, the number of homeless pets via relinquishment and abandonment increased, causing an increased euthanasia rate for pets. Providing temporary assistance with pet food removes one potential reason for families considering relinquishment or abandoning their pets and will help families keep the pets they love.

From October 28 - November 11, Petco, The Petco Foundation, Best Friends Animal Society, and Hills Science Diet will host a Pet Food Drive to kick off the holiday season and ensure that all pet parents can enjoy a healthy and plentiful holiday season with their four-legged family members. ALL volunteers will receive a $5 off Petco coupon. Additionally, one volunteer will win a $500 Petco shopping spree for the pet food bank partner of their choice.

All food collected during the food drive will be donated to food banks in each local community to help families in need keep their pets.

Why: To help families in need feed and keep the pets they love

Responsibilities:

• Greet the public, tell them about the need for pet food in food banks, encourage customers to make a donation
• Let people know that Hill’s is matching all donations of their products and refer them to the event table which will include a display of Hill’s Science Diet products.
• Answer any questions customers may have about the food drive.
• Dress Code: Business casual.
• All volunteers must be 18 years of age, or older. Minors should not accompany adult volunteers at this event
• It is recommended that you contact the store manager of your store location the week before your volunteer day to confirm your attendance and ask if there is anything else you need to know.

You will receive a confirmation email initially and then a follow up email that will confirm the date and location of your volunteer opportunity. This email will also contain a link to a webinar that provides you with additional information about food banks, the 2012 food drive, your roles as a volunteer, as well as helpful best practices for successful solicitation of donations from customers.
