Description
Early Childhood Services is a program of Southern Oregon Education Service District. Our staff of specialists in early childhood development and special education works with families to provide individually designed, family focused services to infants, toddlers and preschoolers with special needs. Our classrooms and curriculum are designed to meet the unique developmental needs of both typically developing children and those with special needs. We believe all children benefit from playing, learning and having fun together. Our services emphasize recognizing and valuing parents and the everyday routines of family life as the child's most important teacher and learning through play and exploration in inclusive environments. We use evidence based practices to address children's language, literacy, and social emotional development. Our diverse professional team, consisting of classroom teachers and assistants, family consultants, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, autism consultant, mental health consultant, and evaluation specialists, uses a trans-disciplinary model: sharing resources, skills, knowledge, and responsibility for delivering high quality, family friendly, fun and engaging services for children with a variety of disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, ADHD, and general language and developmental delay. We provide a supportive working environment with ongoing coaching and many in-service training opportunities. SOESD-ECS is located in Grants Pass, with easy access to hiking, winter sports, fishing and boating on the Wild and Scenic Rogue River. The Britt Music festival and the Ashland Shakespeare festival are nearby, and both Crater lake and the Oregon Coast are within a two and a half hour drive.
