Attention ghosts, goblins and ghouls!!!
Anchorage Parks & Recreation is seeking volunteers to help at our annual Haunted Trails event this fall. We need volunteers for a variety of tasks including:
- Set-up
- Groups to plan and act out spooky scenes along the trail
- Carnival games attendants
- Arts & Crafts attendants
- Volunteers to hand out candy along the trail
- Much, much more!
Here is a little more break down
Set up:1:00-4:30pm
Help with putting both trails together
Put up signs for tails, check in and registration
Setting up tables for registration, check in, and trails
Make hot chocolate and set table up to serve it
Trick or Treat Trail:4:15-6:45pm
Stand at each check point and hand out candy!
Serve hot chocolate
Help check people in and direct them to the right trail
Stand on trail help with supplies of candy to check points
Run a game or arts and craft booth
Haunted, Spooky Trail: 6:30- 9:00pm
Groups make up skits to scare people on trail (volunteers are responsible for their own costumes and props)
Serve hot chocolate
Help check people in and direct them to the right trail
Take Down:8:30-9:15pm (time may very according to event)
Take down all tables and signs
Help clean up trails of any left over materials
Place materials in shed after event
*Runner: 3:30-9:15pm
These volunteers will fill in for miscellaneous tasks throughout the event, may include checking on trick or treat trail and providing more candy or monitoring trail to advice people the trail is closed for a special event, etc.

Parks and Recreation leads volunteer opportunities that help enhance our parks with maintenance and watching for vandalism. We also have opportunities to help engage youth through our recreation centers and programs at the centers.
