ORGANIZATION: National MS Society - Arizona & New Mexico

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society needs your help for our 2014 Phoenix Walk MS on November 1st. We need wonderful volunteers to help in a variety of areas throughout the walk. The success of our walk comes from the great individuals who volunteer and help make the walk run as smoothly as possible, all while working to create a world free of MS.

The following are positions we are looking to fill:

  • Set up from 5 pm to 9 pm (Friday- Evening before event) & 4:30 am to 6:30 am (day-of event) - Unload supply vehicle and place equipment and supplies into designated areas. Volunteers to assist with the setup of equipment such as tents, tables, chairs. Hang banners and signs.
  • Set up of rest stops from 5 am to 7 am - Volunteers to set up the Rest Stop. This involves moving equipment, setting up tables, chairs, and moving food and water to the rest stop.
  • Check-in Walkers from 6:30 am to 8 am - Greet and Check in participants, follow registration procedures, distribute incentives, collect pledges and provide instructions to participants.
  • Volunteer Check-In from 4:30 am to 12 noon - All volunteers must check in and be directed to their volunteer assignments.
  • Rest-stop volunteers from 6:30 am to 11 am.Man the rest stop to pass out water and snacks to the Walkers.
  • T-Shirt Distributionfrom 5:30 am to 11 am- given to walkers who raise $100 or more.
  • Cheerleaders are needed from 6:30 am to 11 am- to motivate the walkers. Bring a strong voice and your best noisemaker to keep the Walkers motivated before the walk and along the route.
  • Monitor parking lot from 5 am to 8 am - help drivers find parking spaces and direct them to the event.
  • Distribute MS notes from 7 am to 8 am- Place notes on participants’ cars during the Walk.
  • Finish line greetersfrom 7:30 am to 11 am- Cheer, thank, pass out medals, and support the Walk MS participants as they cross the finish line.
  • Clean-up Crew Volunteers from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm - volunteers to tear down tables and chairs, pick up and dispose of trash. Pack and load supplies.
