Little Village is one of the youngest neighborhoods in Chicago; almost half of residents are under the age of 25, creating a great need for youth programming. We are looking for volunteers to assist with our afterschool programming Monday through Friday by providing homework help from 3PM-4:30PM and facilitating activities such as art and bicycle repair from 4:30PM-6PM.
We expect from our Uprising tutors to:
-commit to at least 2 hours a week for at least a 1 school semester
-be on time and ready to tutor
-be comfortable and appropriate interacting with youth
-authorize and undergo a background check through the Department of Children and Family Services
-have at least a bachelor’s degree
-be creative and engaging, patient and respectful
-be conscious of the needs of the Latino community
