Learn how to build and maintain natural surface trails by volunteering at one of our special workday events - Montgomery Parks has over 200 miles of trails and there is always an opportunity to improve them!
Scheduled on weekends, trail workdays occur in the spring and fall, the work includes building new trail, repairing erosion issues, stabilizing muddy tread surfaces, and bridge construction. There is lots to learn!
If you do not see any workdays listed, you can still sign up and be put on a mailing list to be notified of the next scheduled workdays - probably in early Fall of 2022
The minimum age to volunteer is 15, but kids 13-14 years old can volunteer if accompanied by an adult. Connect with new people and learn about trail building and maintenance techniques while getting exercise.

Description
Our agency is located just north of Washington D.C., and was originally created to protect the stream valleys around the D.C. area. We have grown into a 34,000 acre park system with over 400 local, urban and regional parks; recreation centers; ballfields; playgrounds; nature centers, a botanic garden and over 200 miles of trails.
